Our Team at Albany Toyota

Andrew Burton – Dealer Principal

My very first job was as a Marketing Trainee with Chamberlain John Deere which was my early introduction to the rural way of life.

In 1983 I then became involved in the motor vehicle industry predominantly through motor vehicle finance companies such as AGC and Toyota Financial Services. I spent a total of twelve years with Toyota Finance, six years managing the Dealer operation in WA followed by another six managing the Dealer operation in NSW and the ACT.

My wife and I together with our two young children moved to Albany in the middle of 2011.

We have owned land in Albany for some years so it was always our intention to return to this beautiful part of the world.  The bonus for us is having had the opportunity to become involved in Albany Toyota and working with such a dedicated group of people.

My interests or hobbies included, certainly in my younger days, singing (Base Baritone) and performing in musical comedies.   I love reading, mowing the lawn (it’s a ride-on!), watching late night movies and spending time with my wife and children.

My career in the automotive industry started in 1998 and was born from a desire to work in an environment that would reward me for effort. For this reason, it seemed natural to choose a commission based role.

During my career I have always worked to be the best that I can be. I have also worked with some very inspiring people who have given me a wealth of knowledge that I can now  pass on to colleagues who also wish to forge a career in a  reward for effort type role. I still get satisfaction from seeing a guest drive away with a new vehicle,  knowing that we have given a solution to their needs, whether that be a tool for their trade, day to day transport or leisure. It is a great feeling.

After 22 years in the industry, I can honestly say that I have the same passion today as I had when I made the decision to take on my first car sales role.

Albany and the lifestyle that is on offer here was a big drawcard for me to make the decision to relocate my family from Melbourne and I am very excited to be here with the team at Albany Toyota.

From an early age I have always had a passion for leading edge technology and modern cars. One of my favourite past times as a kid growing up was going to car shows and obsessing over certain vehicles as they became more advanced.

Growing up in Perth, I worked in retail roles after high school as I progressed through my Bachelor of Accounting and Finance degree. After working in the accounting industry for a couple of years, I discovered that a role within the team at Albany Toyota is exactly where I wanted to be. The unpredictability of who’s going to walk into the yard is the aspect I enjoy the most, along with the reward for effort that comes with this socially interactive role.

I look forward to my future involvement with the dealership, and the lifestyle that comes with living and working in Albany.

Born and raised in England my parents made a decision to migrate to Australia for a better lifestyle and opportunities. I finished my schooling here in Australia and begun my trade in hospitality as a chef. Qualified after 3 years, around that time I met my partner and we made the move to Albany, where we now live with our two beautiful children.

After spending eight years as a chef and having learnt a wealth of knowledge I was ready for new challenges. A job opportunity arose here at Albany Toyota which I didn’t want to let pass, working here for the past 5 yrs has been very rewarding and I look forward to many more years to come.

When I’m not at work I enjoy spending time with my family, playing soccer and relaxing in this beautiful part of the world.

Born in South Africa I chose to make Albany my home in 2006. I’m now proud to consider myself as an Australian Citizen.

I have worked in the motor industry for most of my life after completing my apprenticeship in 2001. I’m enjoying my current role as Service Manager here at Albany Toyota; working with a great team within a locally, family-owned business.

In my spare time I like to keep active and spend time with my son at the go-kart track.

My family immigrated from South Africa in 1998 and I started my Light Automotive Apprenticeship with Auto Classic BMW straight out of high school in 2005. From there I worked as a mechanic at Independent BMW in Bibra Lake and then ended up at Audi Centre Perth. Originally a mechanic at Audi Centre Perth I moved into Service Advising, Used Car Sales, New Car Sales and finally was an Audi Sport Specialist as my final role with Audi.

Anticipating the birth of my first child I took a week on week off Hydraulic Fitter role at Boddington Gold mine site for approx. 3years until I moved my beautiful wife and 3 kids to Denmark and started with Albany toyota as a mechanic. Getting back into the industry and ‘spinning spanners” again reignited my love for what I do best.

Since then, I have ended up in a leadership role within the workshop and strive to do my part in taking Albany Toyota to “The Centre of Excellence” status that it can be. I love exploring the Greater Southern with my family and applying myself as much as I can at work. My goal in life is to be the best version of me that I can at work, as a father and as a partner.

Kani Summerfield - Warranty Clerk & Safety Officer

I started working at Albany Toyota in 2015 & have enjoyed every minute of it due to the wonderful owners and my colleagues. I have changed roles from service advisor to warranty clerk in 2019 after having my son & then continued in the role after having my daughter in 2021, which is where I still am now.

My spare time is taken up by my husband & children whom I adore, my 2 dogs and my hobbies of paper craft & 3D printing.

Michelle Burton - Financial Controller

I was born in Sydney but spent my school years in the small coastal town of Forster in NSW.

My early working life included 3 years with TNT Express Worldwide in Townsville during my Uni years, and a brief but very interesting stint with the marketing department of Virgin Records in 1995 to assist them with the relaunch of the Virgin Megastore in Oxford St London.

I have been involved with Toyota for over 20 years, previously working for Toyota Financial Services in a variety of roles such as Business Analyst, Operations Manager, National Product Manager, Dealer Account Manager and more recently alongside my husband Andrew at Albany Toyota.

It was a big change for our family moving from Sydney to Albany in 2011, however we all love the natural beauty of this area and the lifestyle really suits our interests of being out in the sun, going to the beach, walking, camping & generally enjoying anything with nature…and having some of the best wineries and restaurants at our doorstep is a major bonus for me as well!

Hannah Frost - Guest Experience and Marketing Manager

Hannah Frost - Guest Experience and Marketing Manager

I originally started working at Albany Toyota in 2016 as a Service Advisor before I left for Perth to start pursuing my studies in Graphic Design. From there, I then began a degree in Marketing & Management.

After making the move back down to Albany to live with my partner & his family, I came back to Albany Toyota as the Guest Experience and Marketing Manager and have enjoyed every minute of it! Being a social person, I love having the opportunity to be able to meet and help such a variety of customers, and in turn, lead the dealership towards a high level of guest experience. It also helps when they bring a fluffy companion when visiting the dealership!

When I am not at work, I love to keep active and spend time with my partner and family. I always am rushing to travel out of Australia whenever I have the opportunity and enjoy being creative with my photography and filming.
